Arizona Identity Theft

Arizona Identity Theft is not only a serious crime, Arizona is ranked first in ID theft complaints, that according to the Federal Trade Commission.

The state of Arizona is very much aware of this and continues to work hard to help protect citizens who fall prey to those who steal the identity of others for their own personal gain.

And it is not just the adults who have the misfortune of having their identity stolen. Children, too, in Arizona have also become the victims of identity theft. The numbers are nearly four times the national rate.

With the high numbers of illegal aliens crossing the border from Mexico into Arizona, a high percentage of illegals steal the identities of others in order to be able to work here in the United states.

Identity theft is defined as someone who fraudulently uses your personal information to benefit themselves in some way. Examples include such things as someone taking out a loan in your name, opening up accounts, or using your personal information to allow them to be able to work here in the United States. The Attorney General's Office continues to work hard to reduce ID theft here in Arizona, such as becoming tougher with the law enforcement, stricter laws against the offenders, community education to bring awareness to the issues that involve the crime itself.

The Attorney General's Office also has received the cooperation from the banks of Arizona in hopes of safeguarding its customers personal information.
